YOUNG PEOPLE

Young People is for High schoolers! It is a fellowship open to all area high school students. It meets during the school year.

We meet once every two weeks, on Sunday from 5:45 PM – 7: 30 PM, for refreshments, games, singing, prayer, and time in God’s word.

Special events include Fort Wilderness ( a winter retreat held on a weekend), a summer convention, a one week long service project each summer to help the needy, bowling, roller skating, etc.

Fund raising activities are organized by the parents of the Young People to help cover the costs of these events with 50% of the funds needed coming from Faith Community.

Young People's Update

Regular meetings are held every other Sunday at the home of Don & Marty Slager. 

May 2007 ~

The Youth Group held it final meeting on May 20 from 2 PM to 9 PM with a bonfire, snacks, and games.  Seven of our young people will be graduating and going on to college. 

Most of them will be attending the Youth Unlimited Convention is Salt Lake City this summer. We will be travelling from July 18-28 and the convention runs from July 21- 25 .  We will also visit Yellowstone Park on the way back.

There will also be a summer trip to Great American in Gurnee Mills on June 22-23.

February 2007 ~

Our winter retreat at Ft. Wilderness was December 26-29, in McNaughton, Wisconsin. Ten young people and five adults went this year.

This summer 11 of the young people will be going to the Youth Unlimited Convention in Salt Lake City, Utah. We will be traveling there by car July 18-28. We are in need of a van with a hitch, so we can pull a small U-Haul to convention. If anyone in church is willing to let us use their van this summer, it would be greatly appreciated. Don Slager will be going as an adult leader, but we also need an adult female leader. Anyone want to enjoy 11 great days with our youth?

Our service project on Oct. 28 ~ nine members raked leaves for two families in our church.  A wonderful lunch was provided by one of the families for the volunteers.  We are available for other service projects...just contact us!

The Paintball party was a BLAST!  We cahhenged the youth group at Living Hope in Fox Lake to a competition.  However, we out-numbered them by 17 to 9 so after trouncing them - we evened the teams up to make it more fun! 10 of the teens were new guests to our group.  They were great players!

Our Bake Sale on Nov. 11 was a great success and we had excellent participation from our members. We also thank the congregation for supporting us in our Sub Sandwich Sale.  The proceeds will help meany of our teens attend the Fort Wilderness Retreat in January.
